Online English Classes For Less

For more than four decades educators in America have been advising, entreating, and imploring students to get a college education. But it hasn't done much good, statistically speaking. In fact, things have only gotten worse. The United States used to be a world leader in higher education, now it ranks 12th among developed nations. Only about 39-40 percent of adults in America have a college degree, a rate that hasn't budged in many years.

It all comes down to economics. College tuition costs are rising much faster than the cost of living, i.e., inflation. According to a recent study, tuition for private and state colleges and universities is going up 4 to 6 percent every year, which is 2 to 3 times faster than inflation! This is one of the reasons why more students are enrolling in institutions of higher learning, but fewer are earning their degrees. They simply cannot afford it!

Student debt has become a galvanizing social issue in recent days, especially with the Occupy Wall Street Protesters. These students do not want to start their working careers owning tens of thousands of dollars to financial institutions that charge unreasonably high interest rates. In most cases, of course, there is nothing they can do. The only option is to spend a bit less on education. Believe it or not, this may not involve a serious compromise.
